Kadala (Chick Peas) Curry




Ingredients 
  1. Kadala(Kala Chana) - 1 cup
  2. Diced onions - ¼ cup
  3. Chopped Tomato - 1 nos
  4. Green Chilly(slit) -3
  5. Turmeric powder -¼ tsp
  6. Grated coconut -½ cup
  7. Chilly Powder - ½ tsp
  8. Coriander powder-½ tsp
  9. Aniseed - 1 tsp
  10. Sliced shallots - 1 tsp
  11. Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
  12. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  13. Red chilly -2 nos
  14. salt to taste
  15. Curry leaves - a few
Directions:
  1. Soak Kadala in water for 6 hours .
  2. Cook soaked kadala with onions, Green Chilli, turmeric powder and Water in a pressure cooker for 5-6 whistle.
  3. Heat a pan, add Grated Coconut and saute till brown.
  4. Add Chilly and Coriander powder and stir for a few minutes.
  5. Remove from fire and allow to cool.
  6. Grind it to a fine paste.
  7. Heat Oil in a Pan.
  8. Add Mustrard seeds and Red chillies and Curry leaves in to it, allow to Splutter.
  9. Add sliced shallot and fry it.
  10. Add cooked kadala along with salt and ground paste.
  11. Add Aniseed and Tomato into it and allow to boil, till the gravy is thick.
